TEAMSTERS APPLAUD SENATE CONFIRMATION OF

NATIONAL LABOR RELATIONS BOARD NOMINEES

Hoffa Thanks Senate Leadership for Reaching Compromise to Return NLRB to Full Strength

(WASHINGTON) – The Teamsters Union applauds the Senate’s confirmation of the five National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) nominees, filling all seats on the board for the first time since 2003.

The confirmations also ended the possibility of the board losing a quorum due to the current chairman's’ term expiring on Aug. 27 which would have effectively shut down the board.

"With these confirmations the one body of government whose sole purpose is to protect workers’ rights and enforce their protections under the law has been returned to full strength for the first time in over a decade," said Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa. "The path to this compromise was not easy – strong leadership in the Senate was the key to finally moving the NLRB forward."

The board members confirmed include three Democrats and two Republicans. The Democrats are Mark Gaston Pearce, a labor attorney and current NLRB chairman, former AFL-CIO associate general counsel Nancy Schiffer and current NLRB general council Kent Hirozawa.

Donate to WV Children's Home Society
For many years, the members of this Local Union have contributed to and raised money for a local charity, West Virginia Children’s Home Society. CHS provides food and toys to families in need throughout West Virginia. Through generous donations, we were able to deliver 2 tractor trailers and several SUVs loaded with food, general household items as well as toys to a CHS location in Charleston. They then distributed the items to hundreds of families in WV. It was our biggest year yet. We estimated with donations and discounts, we delivered well over $50,000 in food and toys. You can be a part of this great even this year by offering a monetary donation. Our members plan to shop for food/toys in December and your help is greatly appreciated. We guarantee 100% of donations goes directly to WV families. If you would like to learn more about Children’s Home Society of West Virginia, please visit www.childhswv.org.
